Staged drunk driving accident gets students' attention

Oxford High School staged an elaborate mock DUI wreck to convey the critical dangers of drunk driving to students.

Students watch closely as firefighters pull injured participants from the wreck

The end of the school year is quickly approaching and Oxford High School sent a powerful message to its junior and senior students who are gearing up for prom. Prom is an annual event marking the end of the school year that is synonymous with underage drinking.

This year with the help of, Oxford Police Department, Fire Department, Emergency Management Services, County Coroner, Shivers Towing, Baptist Memorial Hospital, and Hospital Wing Flight Company, a full on staged DUI wreck was performed for the students.

In order to fully convey the dangers of drinking and driving, everything from fake smoke to fake blood was used.
