Prom Promise visits OHS

Oxford High School held a presentation this week to teach students about the dangers of drinking and driving.

 The Prom Promise program stages a drunk driving accident.

OXFORD- The OHS prom is this coming Saturday. School officials expressed concern about students possibly driving to prom under the influence. To combat this, the OHS drama department teamed up with law enforcement and first responders to show students in real time exactly how they could be affected by drunk driving on prom night. 

The scene was set in the parking lot, with two crumpled cars that had collided. As the program started, everything was done in real time, so students could feel like they were present at a real crash. Two people were pronounced dead at the scene, and one was in critical condition. The finale was a helicopter rushing a student to the hospital.
